The Legend of Korra

Dear people's faces I shall call my diary,

I watch a lot of series on television and there is this one that has just been eating my insides because its just over. Absolutely over.

Call me childish, but I got addicted to The Legend of Korra on Nick. Don't know what that is? The series is about the next avatar after Aang, struggling to bring peace among the people. Don't know who Aang is? Aang had a very long series called Avatar : The Last Airbender.

Aang was a twelve year old who was an Airbender and found out about being the avatar from the leaders of his temple. Once he found out that his teacher, who taught him how to airbend, was going to another temple, Aang ran away and was frozen along with his sky bison. A hundred years later, a girl named Katarra and her brother find him in the ice and later learn he is the avatar and the last airbender because the firebenders destroyed his people. Aang and his friends then must unite the nations and stop the fire nation from destroying the earth and water nation.

Now that you understand that, Korra is now the avatar (but not completely) and must master all the elements. She has mastered Fire, Water, and Earth but Air isn't coming as easily because it is her opposite (she's a firebender at heart). She can't connect to the spiritual world and can't even produce a light wind. And what's frustrating, is while she is becoming the avatar, the people without bending powers start to form an alliance against the benders. A man named Amon forms the Equalist to "protect" the normal people. But what's even more amazing than his little group, is he has the ability to take other people's bending away permanently. And this power has only belonged to the avatar and now one else. So Korra must fight against Amon and make peace.

(You can watch full episodes on nick.com/korra. You can even watch Aang and all his adventures.)

Now, what's been bugging me is the ending. It was so inspirational, how Korra falls in love and gets back her powers and becomes the avatar. But it's just...I want to know how a person's soul or mind or body is chosen to be the avatar. One of my many theories is that the past avatars pick someone because they can possibly see their future in the after life.

This brings up a theory that I like to think actually exist and probably doesn't. Now its really hard to explain so just follow along as best as you can. I like to think the world was born when I was born. That every experience is a brand new one to the world and that every new thing that some says to me is brand new. Your probably think, "Yeah, it is. For you." But what's I'm trying to say is that everything happening is like a brand new thing to the world. I have my own world, and you do too. Or maybe we share one or there are millions of different worlds. Or maybe we all just don't exist. Maybe we're all just apart of a dream. And when that person wakes up, the cycle starts over and that person makes a new world without even knowing it.

See what I'm saying?

Fear

Hey everyone!H here!!! Today I am telling you guys about something you THOUGHT you knew! That certain subject is...fear.Now many of you think you know all about fear. The basics it makes you scared,it is the last thing you would ever want, the number one thing in this world you use your every waking breath just to avoid. Intense? Some people are afraid of demons,snakes,spiders,death,(germs...). Today I will tell you something that will knock your socks off.
Guess what? You are not born with fear. Fear is learned or thrust upon you. I know unbelievable!!!I didn't just come up with this revelation myself. Some guy (I am pretty sure you have never heard of) wrote this book called "all about the human mind" .  Yes it is written in all lower case like that. Anyway it is by Robert M. Goldenson, Ph.D. It clearly states:

" Fear is another emotion that can be both friend and enemy. If we let it get the better of us, it confuses our thinking and keeps us from acting sensibly. But if we realize that it is normal to be afraid at times,it may actually help by making us more alert and cautious. We wouldn't stay away from a mad dog unless we feared it.
We learn to live with fear from our earliest years. Practically all infants are frightened by strange and unexpected sounds or sights, such as the noise of a siren or the antics of a clown.
As children, we may acquire a number of fears from other people or from our own experiences . A young child comes to fear snakes because he has been warned against them. He may begin to be afraid of dark closets when he is locked in one. Large dogs may become frightening if one of them knocks him over. Lightning may scare him because it scares his parents.
We are not born with any of these fears. They are all learned.
Some fears are also learned through CONDITIONING, In one psychology's most famous experiments, an eleven-month-old boy named Albert was shown a white rat. He had never shown any fear of animals and reached out to stroke it. At that moment a loud bell was rung in his ear. The next time he was shown the rat, he drew back in fear. The experiment was repeated several times. Soon Albert was "conditioned" to fear almost any furry object, including his mother's fur neckpiece and a old man's beard."

How very interesting...(Sorry about the italics!Something is wrong with my keyboard.)Well like in Jay's post about being geeky! I am always reading things like this!!!Well have some legitimate summer fun!Love H.

Being a Friend

I have made a discovery that was discovered possibly millions to billions of times before me. Friends are amazing. Whether you fight with them on a regular basis or happen to just be besties, you have a brilliant relationship with a person you found during class, off the street, at the store, or even detention. That's incredible to be able to have this family that not your family. The person you don't have to love unconditionally but you just can't help thinking you two are siblings for real.

I also made another discovery. Friendship has no real benefits. I mean, you get stuff, and you may give stuff, but its about having someone close by to tell all your secrets to or cry on their shoulder or laugh in the middle of class. There are no benefits. Just this strong bond you share with someone.

Its actually weird, you know. How did this whole friendship thing get started? Well, there must have been a cavemen who was eating a mammoth by a warm fire in a cave when some other guy comes along cold and hungry. So, the caveman feels bad for him and gives him a home in his cave and a dinosaur to chop on. From there, they were best friends for life. (Until it was the ice age and one of them became a
cannibal- cannibalism started here too!) Cavemen created friendship. That's breath-taking.

Anyway, tell your friends just how much you care for them. Make them a card or give them a lollipop. Just remember, friendship has no real benefits so this friendship you have has no real limits. So, be the best friend you can possibly be. And don't do it because I told you to! Do it because that's your friend you should care for. That;s why you became friends, right?
